The Wes Willie Biography

Wes Willie grew up in the Navajo Nation as the son of a rancher. He spent the begining of his adult work career as a contract welder and pipeliner. He attributes his mastery of working precious metals to this profession. And he has received exclusive instruction in inlay work by world class jeweler Jesse Monongya. He also credits divine intervention as inspiration for his works of art. That is apparent in his lapidary endeavors, for his color arrangement is only paralleled by the beautiful southwest sunsets. And his gem and mineral configuration is truly awe inspiring.

He has showcased as one of the premiere master jewelers by Southwest Art Magazine. He has taken home first, second and third place ribbons in two different categories at the Santa Fe Indian Market. Many compare his work to the late, great and legendary Jeweler, Charles Loloma. His pieces are sought after all over the world, with collectors from Germany to Japan. Winterhawk Jewelry is honored to be represented by such an extraordinary artist.

As an award winning artist Wes gives back to the community by serving as a mentor for willing apprentices. He is an active member of the Southwest Foundation whose proceeds is dedicated to giving back to the community. With all that Wes has going on he remains humble and is always looking forward to creating new masterpieces.
